The 8 WEDGE® is a 7.5 oz machined 6061 aluminum firefighter door wedge designed to hold the gap while one firefighter resets a Halligan and continues the force. Developed by firefighters in 2013, it supports both inward- and outward-swinging forcible-entry operations.
Its distinctive figure-eight cutouts provide a convenient grip point for gloved hands and fit over a Halligan spike, allowing the wedge and bar to be carried together.

How the 8 WEDGE Got Its Start
The 8 WEDGE was developed in 2013 after firefighters at Prospect Park's Station 8 in Delaware County, PA, found themselves wearing through wooden wedges during forcible-entry training.
R.J. Machine developed a reusable aluminum alternative. What began as a solution for repeated training evolutions became a practical fireground tool for helping one firefighter maintain the door gap while continuing the force.
